Hello all, just a short introduction to get things going. I've had a flair for the arts since I was a young child, and drama has always been one of my strong suits. I've always loved film, television, and plays, dreaming one day I'd be a movie star (don't we all?).
My first acting experience was in my Catholic middle school with I'm Going to Order a Lion. I had a supporting role, the director didn't have much time to improve our parts, but I did have the honor of saying I was one of the few who actually memorized my lines.
In high school, I continued my theater involvement, learning improvisational techniques, script memorization, method acting and all the while reading as much Shakespeare and Greek Tragedy as I could. I worked mostly backstage; freshman year I was rejected from the only play I had the guts to try out for, and after that it took me sometime to audition again.
However, a change of theater teachers gave me the courage, and I later played roles or was involved in the production of The Boy Who Was Asked to Turn Blue, White Room of My Remembering, Asylum, Alice in Wonderland, The Lie, and numerous other small performances. I did my share of directing (my favorite being the conversation between Beatty and Montag from Fahrenheit 451), screenwriting (including a psychoanalytical interpretation of Everyman), and musical theater ("Little Priest" Sweeney Todd).
Of course costumes were always included in these productions, many of which I had to make myself. I've been dressing up for Halloween as long as I could remember, and creating the costumes has always been the most fun.
Now almost graduating from college, I've found I've neglected my love for theater. I'm hoping this blog will get me back on track and note my progress.
